Workshop by Professor Peter Jones

5th October 2011: Social systems design for complex services

Professor Peter Jones from OCAD Toronto will lead a three days workshop this week.

Dr. Jones is associate professor at Toronto's OCAD University, where he is a senior fellow of the Strategic Innovation Lab and teaches in the Strategic Foresight and Innovation graduate program. He is managing partner of Dialogic Design International, an organizational and strategic design consultancy he founded in 2007. Peter is a board member of the Institute for 21st Century Agoras, the organization founded by Dr. Aleco Christakis, which promotes the practice and science of dialogic design for democratic, collaborative action for socially complex problem systems. He started and facilitates the Toronto-based educational and consultative community of practice known as Design with Dialogue.

PhD student has started

5th September 2011: Sigrun Lurås, the new PhD student in Systems Oriented Design started her possition at AHO the 1st September. The possition is financed by the UBC (Ullstein Bridge Concept) research and development project funded by the Norwegian Research Council.

We welcome Sigrun on board!

New Master Studio started

15th August 2011: In mid August a new master studio in Systems Oriented Design started at AHO with 21 students.

Partners are RED (with Norwegian railroads), SALTO, Ulstein Power and Control, Kwant Controls, The Policy Lab, The Performance Group and UDI, the Norwegian office for immigration.

We are very exited about the new setting and looking forward to this semester.

Minister visits SOD studio

9th May 2011: The Norwegian minister of education and research, Kristin Halvorsen (to the right), came by the Systems Oriented Design studio on the 28th april when she was visitng AHO for a price giving serenomy. Some of the students had the chance to present their work. Especially the disarmement projects cought the ministers attention.

Risk and risk management.

2nd May 2011: Magnus Bjelkerud from Norconsult AS visited the systems oriented design course to hold a lecture and a workshop on Risk & Risk management. The lecture aimed at giving the students a better understanding of how to think risk, including identifying risks/hazards and further how to control the identified risks. The workshop focused on a practical task based on the generic steps of a risk analysis and risk mitigation where the students used their own projects as cases.
